- Throughout the first two weeks of October, the 2016 winners of the Nobel Prize are awarded in Oslo, Norway and in Stockholm, Sweden. The winners are: Yoshinori Ohsumi for Physiology or Medicine; Oliver Hart and Bengt Holmstrüm for Economic Sciences; John Kosterlitz, Duncan Haldane and David Thouless for Physics; James Fraser Stoddart, Jean-Pierre Sauvage and Ben Feringa for Chemistry; Juan Manuel Santos, the president of Colombia, for the Nobel Peace Prize; and lastly, the Nobel Prize for Literature goes to Bob Dylan "for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition."
