Wildfires Multiply in Southeast U.S.

Ongoing wildfires in the southeast U.S. continue to spread as of Nov. 15, 2016. North Carolina is hit the hardest with at least 15 active fires, burning over 45,000 acres of land. Other states affected include South Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky,Tennessee, and Virginia. Officials believe there are over 40 active fires currently burning throughout the region, some the work of arson. A North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality statement declares that dense plumes are creating hazardous breathing conditions. Air quality warnings are issued in each state, warning against outdoor activity.
