Elie Wiesel, Holocaust survivor and Nobel Prize winner, dies at 87

Elie Wiesel, the famous author and holocaust survivor dies at the age of 87 in his home in Manhattan on July 2, 2016. Wiesel was known for his book Night, which tells of his horrifying experiences in the Nazi concentration camps of WWII. During his lifetime Wiesel was a humanitarian, an activist, and a professor at Boston University. He helped establish the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., along with many other accomplishments. In his 1986 Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech, Elie Wiesel gave this call to action: "Whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation, take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented."
