Donald Trump's campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, leaves his position on August 19, 2016. Manafort joined the campaign in March 2016 with over 30 years of experience. Manafort makes progress as campaign manager for Donald Trump such as helping defeat the "never Trump" movement, stops a delegate uprising at the Republican convention, establishes communications with party leaders, and recommends Gov. Mike Pence for running mate. Recent controversy concerning Manafort's business dealings shadow his departure. The announcement of Manafort's departure follows on the heels of two new additions to the campaign staff: manager Kellyanne Conway and CEO Stephen Bannon.
