    On this date in 1958, deep snows fell in the northeast. Boston got 19.4 inches in 24 hours, setting a record that wasn't broken until 1978. An incredible 39 inches was reported in Callicoon, N.Y. The storm was one of the Northeast's worst blizzards of the mid-20th century and was blamed for 43 deaths and $500 million in damages.
