Tell us about your work-what do you do? I am a Senior Accountant for Chick-fiI-A, Inc I work with the banks and handle cash management related issues for the stores. I am also responsible for preparing and reviewing profit and loss statements for individual Chick-fiI-A stores. What skills are needed? The skills needed are strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work alone and with others. What was your major? Accounting How did you get started in your career? I met with recruiters at a career fair. What experience do you need in this job? You would need experience with the positive paycheck paying system and preparation of profit and loss statements. Describe your "typical " workday: I pull in the exceptions from the positive pay system on-line with the bank. I review all the items and inform the bank if they are to pay or bounce the checks. I then correct all incorrect check information sent to us by the individual stores. Once this has been completed, I either work on profit and loss statements, or I work on balancing the main bank accounts for the company. What is the hardest aspect of your job? The hardest part of my job is trying to pack it all into one day. What is the most rewarding aspect of your job? The most rewarding part of my job is helping the operators of the stores. What are your suggestions for someone considering this field? Try to take as many classes as you can concerning cash management and work on interpersonal skills.
