The eight regional winners of the 48-team field: NORTHEAST— St. Rose, N.Y. (28-3); EAST— California, Pa. (26-5); SOUTH ATLANTIC— Virginia Union. (27-2); SOUTH— Alabama A&M (27-2); SOUTH CENTRAL— North Alabama (24-7); GREAT LAKES— Northern Kentucky (23-6); NORTH CENTRAL— Fort Hays St., Kan. (31-0); WEST— Cal St. Bakersfield (26-3).

The Elite Eight was played March 20-23, in Louisville, Ky. There was no third place game.
