Name at birth: Michael Nelson Trout
Mike Trout became a regular player for the Anaheim Angels of Major League Baseball in 2012, and has since distinguished himself as one of the best players in the game. He was drafted right after finishing high school at Millville, New Jersey, where he had a stellar career as a pitcher known for hits and foot speed. As an Angel, Trout won the 2012 Rookie of the Year award, the 2014 Most Valuable Player award and the 2014 Hank Aaron award. Stats fans love him for all the records he sets -- for example, Trout is the first player in MLB history to hit 30 homers, steal 45 bases and score 125 runs in a single season. Game fans love him because of his heavy bat, quick base-running and average-guy persona. He is signed to the Angels through the 2020 season.
