Actress Kate Mara is best known for her role as a sly, power-hungry reporter in the first season of House of Cards, a role for which she earned an Emmy nomination in 2014. Mara's been in the business since leaving high school and moving to Los Angeles in the early 2000s. Her first break on the big screen was as Heath Ledger's daughter in Brokeback Mountain (2005), and she followed that with recurring roles in the TV series Jack & Bobby (2005), 24 (2006, starring Kiefer Sutherland) and Entourage (2009). Petite, with a piercing gaze, Mara often plays intelligent, determined characters. Her other films include Shooter (2007, starring Mark Wahlberg), 127 Hours (2010, starring James Franco) and, as Invisible Girl, Fantastic Four (the 2015 reboot with Miles Teller).
Kate Mara’s maternal great-grandfather founded the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1933, and her paternal great-grandfather founded the New York Giants in 1925… Her younger sister Rooney Mara was in The Social Network and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
