Kaiane Aldorino was a hospital human resources clerk with a love for "netball and training in the gym" when she won the 2009 Miss World contest. As a young woman, Kaiane Aldorino was a dancer who once traveled to Germany to compete with the Gibraltar National Dance Team at the World Dance Championships. In 2009 she won the title of Miss Gibraltar, earning the right to represent the small self-governing territory at the international competition. At that year's Miss World pageant, held in South Africa, Aldorino won the swimsuit competition (earning the title of "Miss World Beach Beauty") and then became the surprise winner of the whole pageant. Kaiane Aldorino was the first Miss Gibraltar ever to be named Miss World.
Kaiane Aldorino is 5 feet, 8.5 inches (174 centimeters) tall, according to the Miss World Pageant… Her date of birth comes from two sources: The Gibraltar Chronicle reported after her win that supporters “called for a national holiday on Kaiane’s birthday, July 8”; and the Miss World Pageant website identified her as being 23 years old during the 2009 pageant.
