Carli Lloyd is the professional soccer player who led the U.S. Women's team in winning the World Cup final in 2015 with three goals, including one scored from midfield. A native of southern New Jersey, she was a high school standout and well known in Philadelphia as a soccer star. She played at Rutgers University while a student there (2001-2004). and made her international debut with the U.S. national team in 2005. An aggressive midfielder known as a scorer, Lloyd scored the game-winning goals in both the 2008 and 2012 Olympics for the gold medal, and in the World Cup finals in 2015 she scored three goals in the first 16 minutes of play. She has played professionally in Chicago, Atlanta and New York and joined the Houston Dash in 2014.
