He's also the guy who starred in the second round of The Amazing Spider-Man movies, in 2012, 2014 and 2021 (Spider-Man: No Way Home). Garfield was born in Los Angeles, California, but raised in Surrey, England. He moved to London to study drama when he was 17, and began his professional acting career on stage at the age of 20. After a few years of TV work in Britain, his first big screen break came when he was cast as an American college kid in the Robert Redford-directed film Lions and Lambs (2007). Andrew Garfield then appeared in 2009 in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (the final film of actor Heath Ledger) and the British mini-series Red Riding, before being cast in the 2010 David Fincher film The Social Network as the betrayed pal of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg (played in the film by Jesse Eisenberg). That same year Garfield starred with Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan in the film version of Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go. His other films include 99 Homes (2014, with Michael Shannon), Martin Scorsese's Silence (2016) and The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021, as Jim Bakker).
