The Who Biography

The Who

rock band

One of the seminal rock bands of the 1960s and 1970s. Roger Daltrey on vocals, Pete Townshend on guitar, and John Entwistle on bass played together in earlier incarnations as the Detours and then the High Numbers. Keith Moon joined them in 1963 on drums and they became the Who. Their albums include The Who Sing My Generation (1965), Tommy (1969), Quadrophenia (1973), and It's Hard (1982). The band was the subject of The Kids Are Alright, a 1979 documentary. When Moon died in 1978, he was replaced by drummer Kenny Jones.
