Stephen BARLOW, Congress, PA (1779-1845)

BARLOW Stephen , a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Redding, Fairfield County, Conn., June 13, 1779; attended the common schools and Yale College; moved to Meadville, Pa., in 1816; studied law; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Meadville, Crawford County, Pa.; elected as a Jacksonian to the Twentieth Congress (March 4, 1827-March 3, 1829); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1828 to the Twenty-first Congress; resumed the practice of his profession; served in the State house of representatives 1829-1831; appointed as an associate judge of Crawford County in January 1831 and served until his death in Meadville, Pa., August 24, 1845; interment in Greendale Cemetery.
