John D. CUMMINS, Congress, OH (1791-1849)

CUMMINS John D. , a Representative from Ohio; born in Pennsylvania in 1791; attended the public schools, and was graduated from Jefferson College, Canonsburg, Pa., in 1834; studied law; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in New Philadelphia, Ohio; prosecuting attorney of Tuscarawas County 1836-1841; elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-ninth and Thirtieth Congresses (March 4, 1845-March 3, 1849); died in Milwaukee, Wis., while attending a session of the circuit court, September 11, 1849.
