Daniel BRECK, Congress, KY (1788-1871)

BRECK Daniel , a Representative from Kentucky; born in Topsfield, Essex County, Mass., February 12, 1788; attended the local school; taught school; was graduated from Dartmouth College, Hanover, N.H., in 1812; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1814 and commenced practice in Richmond, Madison County, Ky., in October of the same year; judge of the Richmond County Court; member of the State house of representatives 1824-1827 and again in 1834; president of the Richmond branch of the State Bank of Kentucky 1835-1843; appointed associate judge of the supreme court of Kentucky April 7, 1843, and served until 1849; elected as a Whig to the Thirty-first Congress (March 4, 1849-March 3, 1851); returned to Richmond, Ky., and again served as president to the Richmond branch of the State bank; died in Richmond, Ky., February 4, 1871; interment in Richmond Cemetery.
