Christopher Henderson CLARK, Congress, VA (1767-1828)

CLARK Christopher Henderson , a Representative from Virginia; born in Albemarle County, Va., in 1767; attended Washington College (now Washington and Lee University), Lexington, Va.; studied law in the office of Patrick Henry; was admitted to the bar in 1788 and commenced practice in New London (now Bedford Springs), Va.; member of the State house of delegates in 1790; elected as a Republican to the Eighth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of John Trigg; reelected to the Ninth Congress and served from November 5, 1804, to July 1, 1806, when he resigned; resumed the practice of law; died near New London, Va., November 21, 1828; interment in a private cemetery at Old Lawyers Station, near Lynchburg, Va.
