Hockey defenseman, hall of famer, and coach who led the Boston Bruins to the Stanley Cup title in 1972. Johnson played in Montreal and Boston as a defenseman and later became a coach and executive for the Bruins for three decades, retiring in 1998. During his 15 years playing for Montreal he helped them win six Stanley Cups including five from 1956-1960. He was named the National Leagueâs Top Defenseman in 1958-1959. Johnson was drafted to the Bruins in 1963. He played for Boston for two years before a leg injury forced him to retire in 1965. Johnson became the Bruinâs coach in 1970 and led the team to 50 wins and the Stanley Cup in 1972.
