creator of the Ping golf clubs whose popular brand of putters have been used to win more than 1,800 professional events around the world; sponsor of the Solheim Cup, women's golf's answer to the Ryder Cup; won Ernie Sabayrac Award from the PGA of America for his contributions to golf; founder of Karsten Manufacturing Corp. and CEO until 1995. He died from complications from Parkinson's disease.
