(1941-60) and ABC Television (1960-64); his first fight was the Joe Louis-Billy Conn heavyweight bout in 1941, which attracted a rating of 56.2, making it one of the most listened to radio broadcasts in history; retired in 1981; also appeared in six movies between 1970-81, including “Bananas” and “Raging Bull”; member of the National Broadcasters, International Boxing and World Boxing halls of fame; following heart surgery
