Italian film producer who worked with several accomplished directors, such as Federico Fellini, Jean-Luc Godard, and David Lean. His well-known productions include Blow-up,, The Verdict, and Dr. Zhivago. His marriage to actress Sophia Loren generated controversy and publicity. Their first attempt to wed in 1957 was annulled because he was still married to another woman. They succeeded in 1966.
