Dennis J. Kucinich,
member of Congress, emerged as the most liberal candidate in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination. Prior to being elected to the House of Representatives, Kucinich served as an Ohio state senator and mayor of Cleveland. He won the mayoral race at age 31, becoming the youngest mayor elected to lead a major American city. He has lobbied for human rights, worker rights, and the environment, and is an outspoken critic of the war in Iraq and the policies of the World Trade Organization.
