  • China Files New Accusations Against US Over Taiwan: On Saturday, September 24, 2022, China accused the United States of sending "extremely erroneous, hazardous signals" to Taiwan. The US Secretary of State warned his Chinese counterpart that maintaining peace and stability over Taiwan was critical, while the Chinese Foreign Ministry warned that rampant independence activism may derange the possibility of a peaceful settlement.[1]

  • North Korea Fires Ballistic Missile As Kamala Harris Visits South Korea: On Sunday, September 25, 2022, North Korea launched a ballistic missile into the sea off its east coast ahead of a military practice involving South Korea and the U.S. involving an aircraft carrier, and a visit of Vice President Kamala Harris. South Korea's Joint Chief of Staff says North Korea's ballistic missile test is a grave provocation that threatens the Korean peninsula and the world community.[2]

  • Macron And Wife Set To Visit The US: On Monday, September 26, 2022, the White House announced that Emmanuel Macron, president of France, will pay a state visit to the White House on December 1, hosted by Vice President Joe Biden. The visit signifies the resumption of a custom not observed since before the Covi-1-9 epidemic. This will be the Biden-Harris administration's first state visit. The tight connection between the United States and France is based on shared democratic principles, economic ties, and defense and security cooperation.[3]

  • Gunman Attacks Russian School: On Monday, September 26, 2022, A shooter opened fire at a school in central Russia, killing 11 children and four adults, and injuring 24 others. The gunman, who was a previous student at the school, committed suicide at the site. Blood was visible on the floor of the classroom and a gunshot hole in a window, with youngsters crawling behind tables in other images[4]

  • Crown Prince Salman Becomes Saudi Prime Minister: On Tuesday, September 27, 2022, Mohammed bin Salman was named Saudi Arabia's prime minister, a decision that experts believe may insulate the crown prince from a lawsuit in the U.S. over his suspected complicity in the death of writer Jamal Khashoggi. The current event is unlikely to upset the balance of power in Saudi Arabia, where the 37-year-old crown prince is already recognized as the de facto ruler and successor to the throne.[5]

  • UK Prime Minister Liz Truss Threatened With Mutiny: On Wednesday, September 28, 2022, Liz Truss is under pressure from Conservative MPs to remove Kwasi Kwarteng or risk a mutiny after the Bank of England intervened to calm financial markets. Tory MPs claimed Kwarteng must quit for the party to survive the financial crisis and asked the prime minister to rescind her intention to eliminate the highest 45p tax rate, which they said was unpopular in their areas.[6]

  • New York To Accommodate Migrants In Emergency Centers: On Friday, September 23, 2022,  after a political controversy over security, Mayor Eric Adams revealed that the City of New York will create two emergency shelters to welcome migrants coming on buses dispatched by the Republican Governor of Texas. Texas Governor Greg Abbott, a Republican running for reelection in November, has ordered nearly 11,000 migrants hauled to Washington, D.C., New York City, and Chicago since April.[1]

  • Court Ruling Allows Arizona To Enforce Abortion Ban: On Saturday, September 24, 2022, a judge in Arizona Superior Court found that a 1901 prohibition on practically all abortions in the state may be enforced, but the decision is likely to be appealed, and it is almost certain to energise female voters to come out in larger numbers in the state's tightly contested US Senate and governor's races. The ruling came only one day before Arizona's 15-week abortion ban was set to take effect.[2]

  • Further Tax Cuts As GBP Continue To Sink: On Friday, September 23, 2022, Stocks in the United Kingdom fell as chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng presented a number of tax cuts and economic initiatives in a huge reorganization of the country's finances. After losing more than 3% versus the dollar, the pound fell below $1.09. The pound sank more than 1% versus the euro on Friday, falling to €1.19.[1]

  • US Unveils $1.1 Billion Ukraine Package: On Wednesday, September 28, 2022, US officials confirmed the authorization of a $1.1 billion weaponry package for Ukraine in its fight against Russia. The package contains 18 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) launcher systems, as well as other counter-drone and radar capabilities. The weaponry will be purchased with money from the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) appropriated by the United States Congress.[2]

  • Hurricane Ian Hits The US: On Thursday, September 29, 2022, Hurricane Ian is reported to be moving towards South Carolina after hitting the coast of Florida. Hurricane Ian made landfall on the Florida coast on Wednesday at 150 mph, leading to disastrous results, as a hospital was affected and automobiles were submerged. President Biden has requested government emergency action and acknowledged a "significant loss of life" in Charlotte County, Florida.[1]

  • Dart Mission Successfully Made Impact: On Tuesday, September 27, 2022, NASA crashed a spacecraft into an asteroid the size of a football stadium to alter its route away from Earth. The Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) mission is the first effort to divert the path of a moving planetary body. Dart experts stated that while the crash mission was successful, it is too early to tell if the primary goal of redirection was achieved.[2]
