Prequel is the trend these days for sci-fi franchises that begin with the word “star.” Enterprise is set 100 years before the original Star Trek series, when the humans were just earning their wings. While the production is sleek, the Starfleet crew is still working out the kinks and getting used to the gadgetry, lending the show a retro feel, even though the year is 2151.
