Good Will Hunting has inspired a slew of films set in working-class, ethnic Boston neighborhoods. This one unfolds in Charlestown, a close-knit Irish community, and features a group of petty criminals who prey on yuppies' luxury cars. The group's larcenous sprees continue because of Charlestown's strict code of silence when it comes to the law. In the best performance of his career, Leary plays Bobby, who's torn between right and wrong, loyalty and abandonment when the group's leader, Jackie (Meany), shoots Bobby's coke-head cousin (Crudup) in cold blood and his buddies all claim ignorance. Make no mistake, Bobby is not an innocent, and Leary doesn't play the role for sympathy.
