Twenty-two-year-old writer/director Kasdan comes close to pulling off a zany American rendition of a Sherlock Holmes mystery, with Pullman as a wacky private eye named Daryl Zero and Stiller as his loyal Watson. But this funny buddy movie gets off track when Zero's attentions turn to the lusty Gloria Sullivan (Dickens), whom he's all too eager to investigate.
