- Lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver
- Weiland fronted both hugely successful rock bands, Stone Temple Pilots, and Velvet Revolver. In 2012, he published a memoir, Not Dead & Not for Sale, about his career and lifelong struggle with drug addiction.

- Singer, Songwriter
- Born in 1946, Lesley Gore had a hit song at the age of 16 with "It's My Party." In 1980, she was nominated for an Academy Award for composing songs with her brother for the movie Fame.

- Filmmaker
- Wes Craven was best known as the creator of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. He also had huge success with the Scream films. Known as a master of horror, Craven also made other films, such as Music of the Heart featuring Meryl Streep.

- Basketball Coach
- Dean Smith was the celebrated UNC basketball coach. He was at UNC from 1961 through 1997 where he coached many future NBA players, including Michael Jordan.

- Baseball Player, coach, manager
- Yogi Berra was a baseball hall of famer who won many championships with the New York Yankees in the 1940s and 50s. One of the greatest baseball catchers to ever play the game, he was just as well known for the phrases he made famous, such as "It ain't over 'til it's over."

- Actor, Star Trek's Spock
- Leonard Nimoy was known and beloved as the original Mr. Spock from Star Trek. He was also on TV's Mission Impossible from 1969-71 and Fringe from 2009-12.

- Musician
- Nicknamed the King of Blues, B.B. King was a working musician for well over 50 years. He won 13 Grammys, recorded dozens of albums, and performed live into his eighties.

- O'Hara was a favorite co-star of the legendary John Wayne. But perhaps she's best known today as Natalie Wood's mother in the holiday classic, Miracle on 34th Street.

- Politician, Actor, Attorney
- Fred Thompson went back and forth from politician to actor throughout much of his life. He was a U.S. Senator for Tennessee from 1994 through 2003. Before and after, he enjoyed an acting career, most recently TV's Law & Order. He left the show in 2007 to run for president. But he dropped out of the race in early 2008 after performing poorly in polls and primaries.
