historian and author, was called an anti-Semite racist and a Hitler apologist in April by British High Court Judge Charles Gray, who presided over the libel case in which Irving sued Deborah Lipstadt for dubbing him a Holocaust denier and a Nazi apologist in her 1994 book, Denying the Holocaust: The Growing Assault on Truth and Memory. Irving has claimed that Jews died of typhus at Auschwitz and that the number of Jews who died in the Holocaust has been greatly exaggerated. The judge ruled that Lipstadt's criticism of Irving was justified.
