On Nov. 28, 2016, a woman from Brownsville, Texas is reported to have contracted the Zika virus. This is first reported case in the continental U.S. outside of Florida. According to the authorities, the 43-year-old woman has not been to any high-risk places and has no other risk factors; she is also not pregnant. The tests found genetic material from the virus in her urine but not in the blood sample, meaning she is not infectious.
