Here are the key events in business and science news for the month of March 2010.

 

 

  • Jobless Rate Is Steady (Mar. 5): The unemployment rate remained steady in February, at 9.7 percent. The economy shed 36,000 jobs, fewer than forecasted. Most experts believe the economy is slowly starting to recover.
  • Jobs Bill Approved with Bipartisan Votes (Mar. 17): In a rare display of bipartisan agreement, Senate Democrats and Republicans alike vote 68 to 29 and approve a jobs bill that includes incentives for small businesses to hire new employees who have been out of work for 60 days. The bill also includes measures for improving federal highways and rebuilding bridges and roads. President Obama is expected to sign the bill into law on Thursday.
