John T. Parsons

Numerical control of machine tools—Parsons built a milling machine which was fed data to automatically activate servo-mechanisms to perform automatic contour cutting. First developed for making jet plane wings, the method is now widely used in the manufacture and assembly of many goods, from automobiles to computer chips. (1993)
