Tell us about your work---what do you do? I assist people in purchasing residential and commercial property . I also help people to refinance their loans and consolidate their debt . What skills are needed? You have to have excellent communication skills in my business. You also need sales experience and be adept at financial mathematics . What was your major? BS in Management Science . How did you get started in your career? I started with an internship with a commercial real estate firm. I than got a part time job as an appraiser . What experience do you need in this job? Sales experience is essential. Good working knowledge of accounting, real estate and marketing is very helpful. Describe your "typical" workday: I speak with lenders , title companies , and clients on a daily basis. I also call leads to bring in new clients. In the afternoons, I meet clients to sign their loan papers and other important and pertinent documents. What is the hardest aspect of your job? I guess it would be selling the client on my service. Real estate is an extremely competitive market. Soliciting new loans can be difficult. What is the most rewarding aspect of your job? I really enjoy the hours and the income is great. What are your suggestions for someone considering this field? It is very competitive. If you do, find a great person to mentor and train you in this field, that can be your key to success.
