Saint John's University

Saint John's University, main campus at Jamaica, New York City Roman Catholic coeducational established 1870 as St. John's College. Its present name was adopted in 1954. It is the largest Catholic university in the country. A second campus (est. 1931 as Notre Dame College of Staten Island) was added in 1971. The Institute of Asian Studies is affiliated.
