Redditch, city (1991 pop. 61,639) and district, Worcestershire, central England. Redditch was designated one of the new towns in 1964 to alleviate overpopulation in Birmingham and the Black Country . It has grown into a city with various light manufactures, including needles, fishing tackle, springs, bicycles, and motorcycles.
