Irvine, town, Scotland

Irvine ûrˈvĭn [key], town, North Ayrshire, SW Scotland, on the Irvine River estuary. Industries include iron and brass foundries. Other products are chemicals, electric goods, and clothing. Once a major exporting point, Irvine now engages primarily in coastal trade.
