Kinderhook

Kinderhook kĭn´dərho͝ok˝ [key], village (1990 pop. 1,293), Columbia co., SE N.Y. settled before the Revolution, inc. 1838. Richard Upjohn designed St. Paul's Church (1851) there. President Martin Van Buren was born and is buried in Kinderhook the Van Buren homestead, Lindenwald, is south of the village. The House of History, maintained by the county historical society, occupies an early 19th-century mansion.
