Bartow
Bartow, city (1990 pop. 14,716), seat of Polk co., central Fla. inc. 1882. The economy is based on the production of phosphate and the raising of citrus fruit and cattle. Bartow was established in 1853 on the site of a fort built in the Seminole War.
