Burlington

Burlington, town (1991 pop. 129,575), SE Ont., Canada, on Lake Ontario. First settled (1798) by Mohawk Loyalist Joseph Brandt , Burlington's economy was built on the shipment of wheat, lumber, and quarried rock by waterway. A suburb of Hamilton and a beach resort, it produces metal tubing, brushes, chemicals, and other secondary manufacturing products. The Royal Botanical Gardens are there and in Hamilton.
