Hordaland hôrˈdälän [key], county, c.6,030 sq mi (15,600 sq km), SW Norway, bordering on the North Sea in the west. Bergen is the capital. Hordaland includes the Hardangerfjord region and numerous islands and is a favorite tourist area. Fishing, farming, and manufacturing (including chemicals and metal goods) are the chief occupations.
