Mogi das Cruzes

Mogi das Cruzes mo͝ozhēˈ däs kro͞oˈzəs [key], city (1996 pop. 314,947), São Paulo state, SE Brazil, on the Tietê River. It is an industrial center and an agricultural distribution point for São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro states. Among its manufactures are paper, textiles, ceramics, and chemical products. The city was founded in the early 17th cent.
