Coquimbo

Coquimbo kōkēm´bō [key], city (1990 est. pop. 80,961), N central Chile. On a beautiful sheltered bay of the Pacific, it is the port for La Serena . Exports are chiefly agricultural produce and minerals. Coquimbo was severely damaged in 1922 by a tsunami following an earthquake, and suffered significant damage in 2015 under similar circumstances. Coquimbo is located on a major rail line and the Pan-American Highway.
