Prokopyevsk
Prokopyevsk prəkôp´yĭfsk [key], city (1989 pop. 274,000), E Siberian Russia. A coal-producing city of the Kuznetsk Basin , it also manufactures mining machinery, chemicals, and food products. It was founded after the Russian Revolution of 1917. Its coal production declined in the late 1980s.
