Gravesham
Gravesham grāv´shem [key], city and district (1991 est. pop. 90,000), Kent, SE England, on the Thames River. Industries include shipbuilding, metal casting, engineering, paper making, printing, and the production of tires, rubber products, and cement. Known as the
gateway to the Port of London,the city has been for centuries the official reception site of London's distinguished visitors as well as an expedition starting point. Gravesham is also a station of pilots and customhouse officers. Pocahontas is buried in the parish churchyard. It was formerly known as Gravesend.
