Aberystwyth

Aberystwyth ăbˌərĭstˈwĭth [key], town, Ceredigion, W Wales, on Cardigan Bay. It is a summer resort and cultural center. Before the construction of railroads, Aberystwyth was a coastal trading center. The town is the seat of Aberystwyth Univ. and of the National Library of Wales, which has an outstanding collection of Welsh manuscripts. The town was hard hit by storms in 1938 and 2014.
