Wollongong

Wollongong wo͝olˈən-gŏng [key], city (2016 pop. 203,630), New South Wales, SE Australia. It is an important iron and steel center. There are other industries, including copper refining and textile and chemical manufacturing. Port Kembla, which was absorbed by Wollongong in 1947, is a major port. The Univ. of Wollongong is there.
