Ormerod, Eleanor Anne

Ormerod, Eleanor Anne ôrˈmərŏd [key], 1828–1901, English economic entomologist. She aided the Royal Horticultural Society in forming a collection of insect farm pests and was awarded the Flora medal. Her Notes for Observations on Injurious Insects (1877) initiated the Annual Series of Reports on Injurious Insects and Farm Pests. She was the first woman fellow (1878) of the Meteorological Society, consulting entomologist to the Royal Agricultural Society, and lecturer at the Royal Agricultural College. Her works include A Manual of Injurious Insects with Methods of Prevention (1881) and Text Book of Agricultural Entomology (1892).
