Joubert, Joseph

Joubert, Joseph zhôzĕfˈ zho͞obĕrˈ [key], 1754–1824, French moralist. His Pensées (of which there are many English translations) rank with those of La Rochefoucauld in their finished style but have a greater range, including ethics, politics, theology, and literature.
