Amenemhet III

Amenemhet III ä˝mĕnĕm´hĕt, ā˝– , d. 1801 BC, king of ancient Egypt, of the XII dynasty. He was the son and successor of Sesostris III , with whom he had been coregent. He extended the irrigation system. Thousands of acres in the Faiyûm were reclaimed. Amenemhet IV , his son, succeeded him.
