Jaggard, William

Jaggard, William, c.1568–1623, London printer and publisher. Although it seems that he had previously pirated some of Shakespeare's works, he was chosen by the editors John Heming and Henry Condell as publisher of the First Folio edition of Shakespeare's plays. He died before the work was completed. This book, undertaken after Jaggard became blind, preserved 18 of the plays and corrected many textual errors in the plays printed in earlier quarto editions.
