Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn or Ryn rĕm´brănt, Du. rĕm´bränt här´mənsōn vän rīn [key], 1606–69, Dutch painter, etcher, and draftsman, b. Leiden. Rembrandt is acknowledged as the greatest master of the Dutch school.
